Those aren't my glasses. I don't even know those people. Sadly, I can't deny the shirt is mine. But seriously...that lady has got to be near 70. Is she rockin' the low-cut sequins, or what???

Anne, Wil & I were in Las Vegas. Among other things we had a pair of wild, horn-rimmed shades that we asked many different people (read: random strangers) to wear in photos.

While in the Paris casino, we saw this couple at the bar. Initially we thought that with costumes like that, they must be show people, on a break between sets. It turned out they were just a retired couple from Texas, and this is how they dressed for a night out on the Vegas Strip.

When we asked for a picture, they were very kind and immediately obliged. Before I had a chance to offer up my crazy glasses the woman said, "Oh! You've got to wear my glasses in the picture." Then she pulled out these black and gold reading glasses with leopard print. She had gotten the drop on me! They were so wild I put them on and forgot all about having her wear mine.

They were a really nice old couple, but sadly we never got their names. Wil took a picture with them too, and then we each went our separate ways.

(Photo shot by Wil Wheaton with my camera. I can't shoot the ones I'm in, people.)

Between going and staying

Between going and staying

Between going and staying the day wavers,
in love with its own transparency.

The circular afternoon is now a bay
where the world in stillness rocks.

All is visible and all elusive,
all is near and can't be touched.

Paper, book, pencil, glass,
rest in the shade of their names.

Time throbbing in my temples repeats
the same unchanging syllable of blood.

The light turns the indifferent wall
into a ghostly theater of reflections.

I find myself in the middle of an eye,
watching myself in its blank stare.

The moment scatters. Motionless,
I stay and go: I am a pause.
