"Wee're Camping!"

"Wee're Camping!"

Golden Ears was the first campground we found not inhabited by nature lovers and old people, but by classic rock aficionados and Canadian stereotypes. This pair of vehicles arrived shortly after we made camp, and they kept us awake with their loud Canadian jibba jabba 'til well past 4. We might have gone over there and asked them to be quiet, if not for our Minnesotan passive-aggressiveness (oft confused with Minnesotan niceness) and that it was raining steadily that night and we were being sleeping bag pansies. The second night, after hearing someone's Rod Stewart-laden classic rock collection repeat for the sixth time (Wake up Maggie, my ass! I've been lying awake for three hours!), we found the source of the noise (six sites over, no less, 'cause there's no walls in the forest, dumbass!). We asked the group to please Shut The Rod Up. The drunk girl dancing under the camper awning, aglow with the subtle lighting of a thousand Christmas lights, said No, but she invited us to the party. We persisted and, thank god!, an older gentleman, melted into a lawn chair and mesmerized by the vixen's dance -- clearly the proprietor/operator of the camper -- solidified himself long enough to hear our plea, feel our pain, and kill the music.

Alice in Wonderland

Alice in Wonderland

Alice In Wonderland - The Classic by Lewis Carroll

Source of legend and lyric, reference and conjecture, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is for most children pure pleasure in prose. While adults try to decipher Lewis Carroll's putative use of complex mathematical codes in the text, or debate his alleged use of opium, young readers simply dive with Alice through the rabbit hole, pursuing "The dream-child moving through a land / Of wonders wild and new." There they encounter the White Rabbit, the Queen of Hearts, the Mock Turtle, and the Mad Hatter, among a multitude of other characters--extinct, fantastical, and commonplace creatures. Alice journeys through this Wonderland, trying to fathom the meaning of her strange experiences. But they turn out to be "curiouser and curiouser," seemingly without moral or sense.
For more than 130 years, children have reveled in the delightfully non-moralistic, non-educational virtues of this classic. In fact, at every turn, Alice's new companions scoff at her traditional education. The Mock Turtle, for example, remarks that he took the "regular course" in school: Reeling, Writhing, and branches of Arithmetic-Ambition, Distraction, Uglification, and Derision. Carroll believed John Tenniel's illustrations were as important as his text. Naturally, Carroll's instincts were good; the masterful drawings are inextricably tied to the well-loved story. Floor Lamp-2

Vintage (1940s?) brass swing arm floor lamp with glass globe and shade.

Grandma used to have several of these floor lamps and I've been looking for one (at the right price) for myself for years. Even had a corner of the living room reserved for it.

Snagged this one yesterday at an area SA for an unbelievable $5 and it's exactly what I've been looking for.

Unknown make and vintage. Can anyone help ID it?
